Regression to the mean

The more things change, the more they remain the same. In other words, no matter how good or bad things get, life always finds a way of returning to the middle. Life can’t be all good or all bad all the time. You see time is a great leveller. A concept which allows us to both heal and break, where hours of pleasure turn to seconds and moments of agony stretch into hours. The question to life is ‘WHY?’ …‘Why did I have to go through this, Why do I feel this way…Why me?’  We go searching, digging for the painful truth beneath the lovely lies, beguiled by a false sense of hope that maybe one day in -some way- knowing the truth will bring us back to the middle. Within moments of bliss, we fear thinking about the end because pain is such a careful listener that even the faintest whisper of doubt might call it knocking on our door. To love is to sometimes be unwise.

  Often times, when one is in love, one fails to see the undesirable nuances, the slight missteps…the flaws of their lovers. However, this is how one identifies ‘true’ love. We all have flaws, but what does that matter when it comes to matters of the heart? We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest form of love. Anyone can love someone because  that’s as easy as picking up a coin and putting it in your pocket. But to love someone despite , to know their flaws and love them too. That is love, in its rarest and purest form.
